EASTER SEALS MARTIAL ARTS TOURNAMENT
Brandon Liston hopped out of his walker and participated in the 10th Annual Easter Seals Martial Arts Tournament, winning three gold medals
Martial Arts fighters from all over New Brunswick gathered at the Nashwaaksis Field House in Fredericton over a rainy weekend, raising money in support of people with disabilities. Over 100 spectators cheered on the competitors at the 10th annual Easter Seals Martial Arts Tournament. This year the fundraiser brought in over $2,300.
Brandon Liston, National Ambassador for Easter Seals, competed and won three gold medals,
“This tournament is always a blast,” said Brandon, “I’m happy to compete and show support for this great organization.”
Chris Fetter was awarded the tournament Grand Champion in the Black Belt Division
Generous donations contributed to the events’ success, Chris Soetebeer raised $800 alone, receiving the award for the Participant Who Achieved The Most Donations for the second year in a row. While he loves the competition of the tournament, the cause is close to his hearts. In the past, Christopher spent his summer breaks at Camp Rotary, a fully accessible summer camp for people with disabilities operated by Easter Seals. The Soetebeer's have raised over $2,000 for Easter Seals over the past couple of years. The Fredericton Karate Dojo also made a generous donation of $500.
