The Irish Canadian Cultural Association of New Brunswick and Easter Seals New Brunswick


This Indoor celebration includes marching parade through the Regent Mall and on-stage performances.

Confirmed acts already include Kathleen Gorey - McSorley, One Acre Lot, George Steeves, The Stanford School of Irish Dance, SONAS,  Baker Point Youth Choir, The African Drummers and much much more .....

This March 17th we will kick off our first annual St. Patrick’s Parade. This exciting cultural event will take place indoors at the Regent Mall, Fredericton. Come along and join in, all are welcome. This festive parade will be providing an entertaining and free event for the public to enjoy. This celebration of cultural links will help raise money for a wonderful cause. All of the money collected will be used to fund programs that provide necessary support for people in our community whose lives are impacted by disabilities.

2012 Performers

Kathleen Gorey- McSorley

Kathleen is an artist on the rise as attested to by the recent nomination of her latest CD “Ceol Binn” (Irish for Sweet Music) for Roots/Traditional Solo Recording of the Year for the 2011 ECMA awards. Since living and learning in Ireland at a young age she identifies as a Celtic fiddler with a leaning to the Irish style but also enjoys playing Old Time, Blue Grass, Appalachian and Cajun styles. As a member of the New Brunswick Youth Orchestra and a first class honours recipient from the RCM she can even throw in some cool classical pieces. Kathleen has international experience having returned to play in Ireland on several occasions as well as Scotland, the USA and various parts of Canada. Her first CD, “Càitlìn Is Ainm Dom” (Irish for My Name is Kathleen) was released in September 2008 at the age of thirteen. She followed that in 2010 with the release of “Ceol Binn”. Kathleen is known for her high energy playing, dancing and the creativity in her music which has been described as “infectious” by her growing fan base.

One Acre Lot

This March, the dynamic One Acre Lot celebrates its third anniversary sharing original folk and celtic music in New Brunswick.  Since its formation in 2008, One Acre Lot has undertaken nearly 100 live performances in central New Brunswick, including community fairs, festivals, fundraisers, variety shows, weddings, concerts, and private functions. Members are from Sunbury County and include Crystal Hanson (who is descended from the McLaughlin and Kirkpatrick families from Ireland) on piano, Trevor Hanson on rhythm guitar, Russell Howe on lead guitar and fiddle, and Jacqueline Rowan, step dancer and two time maritime fiddle champion on lead fiddle. They are home grown in New Brunswick but they have world appeal. We are very excited to have these multi-talented lads and lassies share their passion for celtic music with us. Stanford School of Irish Dance - Director Sharon Stanford - Rutter

The Stanford School of Irish Dance was established in Fredericton in 2001. Director Sharon Stanford Rutter is a registered teacher (TCRG) with An Coimisiun le Rinci Gaelacha in Dublin, Ireland. She began dancing at age 9 with the Bernadette Short School in Montreal. She has performed and competed throughout North America at the championship level. The Stanford School of Irish Dance is one of only four registered Irish Dance schools in Atlantic Canada, and and the only one in New Brunswick! The Stanford performing troupe includes many fine dancers, one being Samantha Stanford, dancer and Irish dance teacher has qualified for the World Irish Dance Championships in Dublin, this coming April.  We wish her all the very best of luck and are privileged to have such world class dancers involved.

Sonas


"SONAS" (Gaelic Word for Happiness).  The duo of Helen Morag Mckinnon and Ron Bagnell sing songs in English & Gaelic.  They also perform musical pieces on with the tin whistle and guitar.  Now a retired Public School and Language Teacher, Helen is a force in the community for culture and the Arts. Ever engaged in volunteer work with youth & adults through music. This Boonie lady is very proud of her Scottish Heritage and so are we. She hails from the land of the Birth place of Saint Patrick Himself - Scotland.  Helen is a fluent Scottish Gaelic speaker. She is an artist, photographer, performer. Together this duo are champions of celtic tradition.

Derrick Paul Miller

Mr. Miller has already had an extensive and rich career both abroad and in Canada. He has been cast in leading roles in The Sound of Music and Les Miserables. Mr. Miller is also a member of the prestigious Canadian Opera Company Chorus of professional singers, with whom he has performed in over 15 productions. Derrick has been the featured soloist at the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo along side fellow Frederictonian Soprano Measha Brueggergosman. Mr. Miller always attracts capacity crowds to his concerts which include a varied program of opera, operetta, musical theatre, Irish ballads, war songs, and standards.

Most recently, Derrick has released his debut CD, Page One, to great critical acclaim. This recording is classical cross-over in genre and features popular cover tunes, original works by Canadian songwriters and Irish Ballads. His CD has been played on numerous CBC programs as well as many radio stations both nationally and internationally. This past Spring, he recorded his second CD, It Is Well..., a collection of beloved sacred and inspirational music and plans on touring and promoting this album in the up-coming year.

Celtic Discovery


The Celtic Discovery Performing Troupe, is a talented collection of young musicians and dancers from New Brunswick. Brought together by their complementary Celtic talents and  passion to promote and preserve Celtic culture through music and dance. The schools’ founders envisioned creating a group of young performers who would share their talents and love of performing while celebrating and fostering the strong Celtic Culture that continues to hold strong in the Maritimes. This young and determined troupe of lads and lassies have traveled to Scotland, Ireland, Cape Breton and Gaspe Quebec sharing their talents and increasing their skills. They are as talented as they are motivated!!

Julia’s School of Dance


Julia’s school of Dance was founded in 1999 by Mrs. Julia and has since then produced very fine dancers who shine. They are passionate about dance and their philosophy is “Learn to Dance, One Step At a Time”. They teach dance to all, from age 3 upwards. This ambitious school covers many programmes including Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Cheer Dance, Mix Hop, Lyrical, Baton Twirling and Competition Dance.
