The Living with Disabilities Affiliate is a consortium of Easter Seals agencies who are responsible for resources in the Living with Disabilities section of the Canadian Health Network (CHN) web site. If you are searching for reliable health information, visit the Canadian Health Network web site itself: www.canadian-health-network. The Living with Disabilities Affiliate Info pages you are reading now only offer information about the CHN Living with Disabilities Affiliate. The information here is intended as a small supplement to the rich database of information available through the main Canadian Health Network site.
The Living with Disabilities Affiliate is a consortium of Easter Seals / March of Dimes agencies who are responsible for resources linked through the Living with Disabilities section of the Canadian Health Network (CHN) web site and for other elements of the CHN related to people living with disabilities, including networking with organizations who operate in that health information field. The consortium is comprised of four agencies:

|SMD
Alliance
(the lead agency in the consortium)
The Canadian
Health Network (CHN) is a
bilingual, Internet-based health information service
funded by the Public Health Agency of Canada. The
CHN website offers links to over
17,000 individually reviewed resources from a network
comprised only of non-profit and community organizations,
universities, libraries, and governmental websites. For
further general information about the Canadian Health
Network, consult the
About the Network page on the CHN
web site.
The CHN website has a Living with Disabilities section, devoted to information for and about people living with disabilities. In the Living with Disabilities section, you can browse over 600 links to resources related to people with disabilities. From this section, you can search the entire database by using Keywords or by selecting one of our "Quick Searches". The Living with Disabilities section also provides access to a list of FAQs and a selection of Current Highlights from our collection.
The Canadian Health Network now has over 1000 network contributors encompassing a vast array of health topics, and over 70 of these provide information and services specifically relating to living with disabilities in Canada. To view the list of organizations who contribute to the Living with Disabilities section of the Canadian Health Network site, consult our Network Contributors page. If you represent a Canadian, non-profit organization interested in becoming a part of the Canadian Health Network, please contact us.
The Living with Disabilities Affiliate produces a quarterly e-bulletin called CHN Newslink in order to keep readers updated about the Living with Disabilities section of the CHN, our network contributors, and other disability-related information on the web. Anyone interested in keeping track of Canadian websites related to disabilities may find this publication of interest. To receive a notice whenever a new issue is published, send the Editor (Philip Kiff) a brief email request to receive CHN Newslink [chnnb@nbnet.nb.ca].
The Canadian Health Network also offers a general, twice monthly email newsletter called Healthlink! This service offers a summary of new information appearing on the main Canadian Health Network home page. Healthlink covers the full breadth of information available through the CHN site, not only information related to disabilities. In Healthlink you will find highlights and links to all-Canadian articles, and events as well as intriguing and little-known health facts about health promotion and disease prevention. To subscribe to Healthlink simply enter your email address into the Healthlink subscription form on the main CHN site.
As a service to the disability community in Canada, the Living with Disabilities Affiliate has created a list of upcoming conferences in Canada which relate to, or may be of interest to, people with disabilities. The list is continually updated and a summary of the latest additions is included each month in the CHN Newslink.
